I do feel that the Ax might have slightly larger pixels, or utilize pixel binning to reduce noise. There are several potential explanations for softer images but no convincing evidence to me that it can only be the lens to blame. However, when the camcorder is zoomed out and even to medium zoom, the chromatic aberration isn't nearly as bad.
